I'm the coolest wife ever...

So... if you know Deg, you know he loves techno. You will then be sure to believe that he loves DJ Sammy, king of techno-itis. Let that preface my story.

Chinedu, a very talkative 8th grader, stops me in the middle of my lecture today to ask me if I like DJ Sammy. This is out of nowhere, in the middle of learning about the UN's Declaration of Human Rights. So I told him I did, but that Deg was a super fan. He told me that his uncle is promoting DJ Sammy, who is coming to In The Venue on December 5th. I told Chinedu that he just helped me get the best Christmas present ever for Deg. And, yep, I got online and I bought two tickets to go see DJ Sammy.

So I am bad at keeping secrets. If you know me, you will know how true this is. Knowing I can't keep this one in, I tell him I'm going to spill the beans. I ask him, "So, do you know who's coming to Salt Lake?" He guesses, "DJ Sammy?" I, looking baffled, answer, "Yeah," and Deg lights up like a Christmas tree. He was so excited to find out that his hairbrained guess was actually right. When I told him I was getting him tickets for a Christmas present, he was quite happy. It's always been his dream to see DJ Sammy in concert.

So yes, that is why I am the greatest wife ever. Woot!

Spare Time

Remember that? Remember when we used to have that? Ah, the good old days...

When we do have spare time, we do the following:
1. Read (Yes, I got Deg to like reading)
2. Watch Food Network
3. Watch James Bond movies
4. Cook
5. Snuggle/take a nap

What 5 things do you do in your spare time?

Thank You Cards

Wow... thank you cards take forever to write. I had no idea! I mean, both of us have written thank you cards before, but never 200 or so of them. Sheesh! At first I tried to make them all sound unique and fun, but after about, oh I don't know, 20, that went out the window. Regardless, all of our thank you cards are done and will be out with tomorrow's mail. Woot. But wait, I need to write one more! Thank you, dear reader, for reading our blog! See, I even put the thank you card on here. Now that is so cute. So dang cute. Adorable even.

Adventures in Blogging

Every couple has firsts: first kiss, first dance, first fight, first failed dinner, first vacation, first, first, first... This is our first experience in blogland together. Woo woo! The goal of this blog will be to keep those who are interested updated as to the happenings here in Valentine-land, whether it be through funny stories, videos, pictures, web links, etc. And why not? So, being as this is the first blog within the larger blog, this is more of an intro blog. That being the case, let's get some facts strait:
1. Jessica is currently teaching junior high grammar and literature to 7th, 8th, and 9th graders at a charter school in West Jordan. This being the case, obviously there are always good stories.
2. Deg is currently finishing up his degree in computer science at BYU. He is currently in his senior year in said program.
3. Deg is currently working for the HR department of BYU as one of the web developers, which means he has the right to mock every failed attempt at a blog entry from Jessica.
4. Jessica is currently self-educating herself in some culinary skills and is looking into ways to further polish those skills via official academia.
It is important for you to note these facts because if we talk about one of these things and you don't know we do them, things could get confusing. So, poke around a bit, and as we continue to develop our lives together, the blog will accordingly develop.
Well, did I miss anything? Questions, comments, personal concerns, anyone?
